23 July - Leg # 5 return : Mestia - Batumi - 360 km

We woke up in Mestia with a sun shining in a blue sky surrounded by high mountains picks still white with snow, what a great good morning to the bikers.
We left early riding through several small villages in a green valley all of them with the typical middle age defensive towers.
Today we were heading to Ushguly a place at 2,000 mt elevation at the end of a 50 km white top rough road.
This proved to be a challenge for Lorenzo and Giovanni bikes both not having the right kind of "off road tyres" and this was more so especially when the road became muddy with difficulties to control the bikes.
They both learned quickly how to get the best out of their bikes/tyres and got there safe and sound at the end of the day.
Ushguly is a very nice town surrounded by mountains picks 4,000 mt high, with many walkers tracking the area.
Back to Mestia for lunch before proceeding to Batumi on the black sea shores close to the Turkish border.
Once again we had to negotiate the road trying to avoid wild animals sitting on it or crossing it, we saw   geese
and donkeys too this time.
Due to the hard off road riding both the bikes and the bikers were on the "very dirty" side thus we decided to stop at a petrol  wash station for a quick clean up.
Tomorrow we will leave Georgia behind us crossing the border to Turkey, our next stop is Samsum right in the middle of Turkey.
Today we made 360 km for a total of 2,794 since the start of our trip back home.

Congratulations to Giovanni and Lorenzo, falling down is easy the bike does it for yourselves!!! Getting up, pick up the bikes and try it again shows the bikers grit. By the way next time listen to the "Camoz" (Giacomo) and get the right tyres for the job.

Seems like it's most beautiful place you went so far. Even if it's tough, it's really worthy to get there
